Probably you use Google Maps in your everyday life. Along with Google Earth you can utilize this common app to create lots of 'real-world' lesson activities for students which link in to a large variety of topics they study across the curriculum - from Math to Science, from English to General Studies, from History to Geography. Pretty much any subject can be bent to Maps and Earth.

How about making a quiz using Earth? You can do that with Earth Projects, but that takes a little bit of technical training. If you need something quick, you can use these apps for mini activities which can be embedded within a lesson plan as a warmer or cooler, or something in-between. Here are a few simple examples.
