At PRCMS, we believe that knowledge is important! Through teaching in the four content areas (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies), as well as electives (band, computer, PE, Choir, Junior Cadet Corps, Show Choir), it is our goal to instill a love for learning in all students we encounter. Teachers at PRCMS work hard daily to make sure lessons are rigorous, engaging, and age-appropriate. Using the following grading scale, PRCMS teachers rate student work based on whether or not standards have been met. It is our goal that students would not only meet given educational standards, but exceed!
Attendance is SO important to a child's education! At PRCMS, it is our goal to have at least 95% attendance over the course of the year.
Make sure your child is here! Research shows that even missing 10% of the school year (roughly two days per month, or 18 total days per year) negatively affects a student's academic performance.
House Bill #1530, enacted by the Legislature, states that a student absent for more than 37% of his/her instructional day is to be considered absent the entire school day. In order to be compliant with the law, we will require an absence excuse for all check-ins, check-outs, and full-day absences.
AT PRCMS, students are considered truant after 12 unexcused absences.
**Parent notes will be accepted for up to EIGHT absences.
Discipline issues can negatively affect a child's learning in the classroom setting. At PRCMS, we seek to ensure every child's success by setting high expectations for student behavior.
Students are given three steps (classroom discipline) before being referred to the office. Office discipline referrals (ODRs) can affect a child's education, especially if there is consistent trouble with behavior. Please help us to help your child by stressing the importance of showing PRIDE, RESPECT, and COMMITMENT in all they do!
