Class of 2023-2024
Starting with researching contemporary artists and selecting a theme, each student in this cohort embarked on creating a comprehensive unit plan. This process included ongoing reflection on both classroom instruction and the exploration of themes, as well as the refinement of project examples. Developing multiple iterations of these project examples served as a key instructional strategy in art teacher education, providing a practical framework to illuminate and refine the essential learning objectives, skills, and experiences embedded in the projects. After crafting their project examples and designing initial lesson plans, students had the opportunity to implement their lessons in collaboration with East Elmhurst Community School (PS 329Q). The insights gained from this real-world experience allowed them to revise their lesson plans to better meet the needs of their students.
