Vernon School Counseling

Welcome to our school counselor website where you can find lots of resources for kids, their adults and a bit about us, your school counselors. What a website can't do is to accurately portray the essential part of school counseling - the human connection and interpersonal relationships. As School Counselors and members of this community, our work is focused on dismantling the systems of oppression. We stand as allies in respecting our differences of identity inclusive of race, LGBTQ, differences of abilities (strengths and challenges), behaviors and beliefs!

What we love most about being a school counselor is getting to know our students. Even if this is the most awesome website ever, it can't tell you how grateful we are to get to work with Vernon students and their families.

Each student is important and their voice needs to be heard.

We stand in unity with our students in the fight against racism. We see our jobs, as School Counselors, to make sure each and every student can access their education. By removing barriers to success, encouraging students to express themselves and show their personalities, honor individual and community cultures, respect student and parent opinions, and build an inclusive environment that builds independent global thinkers and highlights their culture.

When you walk into our Offices, virtually or in-person, you walk into a space that is confidential, free of biases and barriers, and open to all. Because we believe that Education is power, empathy connects us all, and solidarity will move us forward.

Safe Spaces

Each students deserves to have access to an educational environment that is welcoming, safe, and accessible. Vernon School Counselors believe it is their job to help provide this environment to all students, specifically our LGBTQIA+ students who may struggle to find a welcoming space elsewhere.

At Vernon, you will find the School Counselors and our Offices (in-person/virtual), to be Safe Space for all student. We have an open door practice, so if you need a place to take a break or talk we are here for you. We are also Facilitators of Wings of Freedom, at Vernon and work to build inclusive curriculum and areas within the school and community.
