My name is Tom Myers and I ask that students call me “Teacher Tom.” I received my Masters degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education in 2013. I've been teaching at Skyline for ten years and have taught 2nd/3rd grade blends, 3rd grade and 3rd/4th grade blends. Prior to that, I taught 4th grade at Llewellyn Elementary in Southeast Portland.
I grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Colby College in Maine, with a degree in Philosophy. I have worked as the Food and Garden Educator at Abernethy Elementary School, an AmeriCorps VISTA serving at the Children’s Book Bank, a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Madagascar, a waiter, an art museum preparator’s assistant, a maintenance worker in a boatyard and a farmhand on several organic dairy farms. In my free time I enjoy birding, beekeeping, kayaking, gardening, reading, nature photography and backpacking.
