Does your child have a disability and you suspect it's getting in the way of how they access their learning? What qualifies as a disability? Does your child have ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia, or other medical diagnosis? Is there a health, physical, or psychological condition or learning disorder suspected? Would you like to know more about the difference between a 504 plan and an IEP? Need to know about the process at BCS?
Ms. Kobs is the 504 coordinator for 4th through 8th grade students. Please contact her for more information. A weekly parent 504 consultation and Q&A is offered by appointment. You can also check out the parent guide.
Do you feel your child would benefit from talking to a therapist? Need help finding a support group? Interested in treatment centers? Many families reach out to school counselors for recommendations. I'd love to refer you to Psychology Today's website. I love this website for several reasons. 1. It's up to date. 2. You can filter by your insurance. 3. You can read bio's and see pictures of therapists. This is helpful to include your teen on the process 4. You can narrow the search with more filters such as age, issue and zip code. 5. Contact info such as phone and email is easy to find 6. Psychology Today verifies and vetts each professional.
I have office hours specifically for parents by appointments before or after school. Please email or call me to arrange a time that's convenient for you.
The counselors have a confidential survey that lets us know how we may help those in need in our community this year. Please reach out to your counselor and they will share the form with you. It is also posted in the back to school newsletters. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your grade level counselor if you have any questions about the survey.
