IBW Softball is looking for several kinds of volunteers to help with:
Field Maintenance
Assistant JV Coaches
You do not have to be a parent to volunteer! You can be a recent graduate, a community member, a former player or just someone who wants to help out!
John Lostra, the revered namesake of the third base dugout, tends to Rieke Field with the devotion one reserves for their own front yard. John tirelessly undertakes tasks ranging from mowing and raking to fertilizing, weed control, and watering—his dedication knows no bounds. He had three daughters, Mackie, Madi, and Saioa, who played on this field for Wells (then Wilson) from 2007 to 2017 and began helping another parent whip Rieke into shape in 2005. An integral figure in the IBW softball community, John's contributions extend far beyond mere maintenance; his hard work and commitment have woven him into the very fabric of our team. We are profoundly grateful for the countless hours he invests in the field and his efforts in training and inspiring fellow parents to join him on this field maintenance journey. John enjoys the challenge of making the field playable after rain and continues to do what he can as a girl dad to support girls' sports. Here is a photo of John's daughter's dog, Bode, assisting with field maintenance.
Ida B. Wells, formerly Wilson, High School class of 1989 and player on the first PIL Championship team for IBW in 1986. Monica's son plays baseball and when he doesn't have a game, Monica volunteers her time to assistant coach the Junior Varsity team.
