This is Head Coach Krissy's inagural season with IBW. She recently relocated to Portland for a position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. She holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering, an M.S. in Sustainable Building Systems, and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Engineering.
Krissy has been playing softball for over 20 years. She started at Chatham Little League in New York, where her team won the New York State Championship in 2012. She played travel USA (ASA) Softball for Chatham Rage and East Greenbush Express and high school softball for the Chatham Panthers in New York and Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts, in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council. She played one season as a walk-on at Clarkson University, an NCAA DIII school. She was previously an assistant coach at West Roxbury Little League and the Junior Varsity and Freshman Coach at Revere Public Schools in Massachusetts.
This is Assistant Coach CJ Mead's first season as the assistant varsity softball coach at IBW. CJ has worked in the youth development field for two decades, serving young people all over the Portland metro area. He has been an active member of the SW community as an educator and volunteer with the Southwest Portland Little League (SWPLL).
As a youth, baseball quickly became a huge piece of CJ’s life since the day he picked up a glove. He fell in love with the game and all the lessons it brought him. It showed him how to be a part of a team, overcome challenges, and the importance of hard work and dedication- skills he uses daily. As an adult with two children, CJ has also been working to pass this love of the game on. When his daughter started playing softball in SWPLL, he felt a call to service, helping create a positive youth softball experience for girls all over Southwest Portland, and jumped into a role on the SWPLL Board as VP of Lower Level Softball for SWPLL. In this role, he is helping to grow the sport of softball and providing young softball players with the foundations to become the best players and humans they can be.
This is Danny Bradach's first year coaching softball at Ida B. Wells. He has been a school counselor here for the past nine years and also coaches football and Unified Basketball at IBW. He has more than ten years of experience coaching middle school and high school football and also coached his own children in little league, from T-Ball up through AA. Coach Bradach grew up in Portland and previously worked as a counselor and coach at Parkrose, Marshall, and Madison (now McDaniel) High Schools. He is very familiar with the PIL, having also coached football at Benson and Grant High Schools. He is married and has two kids--one in middle school and one in elementary--and enjoys working with the JV Guardians. His top priority for the team is to have fun, treat each other with respect, and become better softball players and people by the end of the season.
