Major Reviews and Recommendations for NSTX-U Program and Recovery Project

NSTX-U Cost and Schedule Review (September 6-8, 2017)

The primary purpose of this review was to receive feedback on the proposed cost and schedule in support of the FY-17 Extent of Condition Notable Outcome.

NSTX-U Program Advisory Committee (PAC- 39) (January 9-10, 2018)

The primary purpose of the NSTX-U Research Program Advisory Committee (PAC-39) meeting was to help the NSTX-U team prepare for the DOE/SC Assessment of NSTX-U Mission Need (see below). The PAC-39 Report is downloadable from here.

DOE/SC Assessment of NSTX-U Recovery Plans - Phase 1 (February 6-8, 2018)

The purpose of the DOE/SC Assessment Phase 1 was to evaluate PPPL's proposed organization, capability, and means to execute the NSTX-U Facility recovery plans and resume operations.

DOE/SC Assessment of NSTX-U Recovery Plans - Phase 2 (March 14-16, 2018)

The purpose of the DOE/SC Assessment Phase 2 was to evaluate the continued Mission Need for the NSTX Upgrade facility and associated research program.

NSTX-U Director's Review #1 (September 5-7, 2018)

The purpose of this review was to determine if the Recovery Project was ready for a CDE-2/3a IPR in later 2018 or early 2019.

NSTX-U Recovery Basis of Estimate Review (March 18-20, 2019)

The purpose of this review was to assess if the Basis of Estimate for the NSTX-U cost and schedule estimate was well documented, comprehensive, accurate and credible as defined by GAO-09-3SP and DOE Order 413.3B.
