Closed for the Season

01.09.20

Art Club has officially closed for the 2019-2020 school year. It's been joyful working with your children, but I must make room for some professional development as well as time for the middle school play. Hopefully I see many familiar faces when the play begins in March. Until next time...

Paint!

12.10.19

Great turnout today for Art Club! Over the course of the year we have seen 44 different students in 6-8th grade participate in Art Club. This is the best turnout we've had in the last 3 years, and I want to thank all who participated. This week we painted painted painted! I love that Art Club exposes students to a variety of materials, but also introduces many students to the vibe in the studio. We have a pretty good time in here creating some beautiful art.

Next week... Candy Cane Decorating :)

Fibers

11.19.19

Yarn, embroidery thread, cardboard, sewing, string art, bracelets and knitting. It was a busy afternoon exploring new materials!

There will be NO art club on Tuesday 11.26. Enjoy your long weekend!

Calligraphy

11.12.19

Calligraphy, Faux-ligraphy, and Hand Lettering.

We used double ended calligraphy markers and good old fashioned Crayola markers for this activity. We practiced up and down stokes, wide and skinny lines and accents. We attempted our names, and inspirational quotes. We tried writing on a variety of different papers including super smooth marker paper.

Next week, Fiber Arts.

Origami & Paper Crafts

10.8.19

Robots, cranes, and vampires oh my! I'm glad to say we still have 25 -30 students attending Art Club every week. Time goes by pretty fast with that many students, and I truly hope they enjoy the extra art time. Next week will be chalk & oil pastels. I've already suggested they bring an art smock or wear something that can get dirty. Weather permitting, we may spend our time outside...

Celebrate Art

10.3.19

This week we got excited about entering our first art contest of the year! Check out the video to learn more.

Square One Art

9.26.19

Did you know there are only 12 Thursdays left until Christmas? Anyone else wait until the last minute to do their shopping? If your child has been to Art Club lately, they had some time devoted to making Square One Art projects and this just might make your shopping easier.

All submitted art projects will get a free sheet of stickers. You can also order coffee mugs, journals, potholders, and much more. Check out the link HERE for the full catalog of options.

If your student wants to participate, but hasn't been to Art Club, entry forms are located outside the art room door until Friday October 4th.

Art Club Week-by-Week

Check it Out!

Art Club Week-by-Week

Due to the enormous interest in Art Club, I am focusing each week on a particular theme. Next week we will wrap up our work on Mural Ideas and Square One Art. Please see the schedule on the left for themes throughout the first semester.

Students are not required to come to Art Club every week, but I would like to know in advance so that I can have supplies ready. I will have a sign up sheet outside my room. Please sign up at least 24 hours in advance.

HOLY SMOKES!

We had SO MANY STUDENTS come to Art Club this week, I didn't get a chance to snap a picture. 33 students to be exact. Our biggest first meeting turnout yet!

This week we brainstormed ideas for a large painting or mural to add to our middle school building over the summer. We talked about using non-traditional materials like pop tops or bottle caps, themes that will connect the middle school pumas to the community, and ways to get all students involved.

I'm impressed with the excitement our students have around art and proud to lead this group. Art Club will meet every Tuesday after school from 2:50-3:30.

I think it's safe to say Art Club is off to a rockin' start!! We created Square One art projects last week, and today we created creepy-crawlies with Twisteez wires. Art Clubbers always have a project option provided to them, but they get a choice to work on whatever they like. We have some creative minds in this group for sure!

ART CLUB

STAY TUNED!

More information regarding Art Club will follow after the start of school. Anticipated first club date is Tuesday, October 9th.
