An in-depth look into your company's offerings or culture is what may be the last link towards attracting new customers and having them sign up. Roll the carpet and go the whole nine yards, or if you prefer the unglamorous approach, ensure that what you stand for is communicated clearly. An overwhelmingly technical product portfolio can be engineered to spark an interest with just the right amount of visual aids and packaging.
Presentations, whether in printed format or for viewing on the screen, often end up being a well intentioned but confused mélange of information. Far from being efficiently collaborative, different teams and their inputs tend to add to the disharmonious mix of varying content density and presentation styles. To avoid this, one could ensure that at least most if not all of the following are given thoughtful consideration:
Frugality with bullet points
Consistent typeface and sub-family usage
Restricting to maximum two typefaces for majority of content
Infographics that inform, communicate and clarify rather than pass off as abstract art
Consistent phrasing and language style
Restricting use of clipart and stock photography (unless it really drives home a point)
But when dealing with lots of data, the presentation has to not just rely on being pleasing to the eye, but must also ensure that technical aspects such as readability, clarity of content and printability have been taken into consideration. Financial documents such as balance sheets, ready reckoners, product leaflets typically require special attention with regard to data design before attempting distribution and dissemination.
