Meet the Counselor

Hi Park Village! My name is Holden Sandstrom and I am so excited to spend my first year at this school with you.

I grew up in San Diego before moving to Denver to complete my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Denver.

After my time in Denver I returned to San Diego and began working with Poway Unified School District in 2020. I have worked in multiple different positions at the elementary school level in PUSD. I have supported the after school program as a Program Aide, worked as an Instructional Assistant with the special education department, and provided school wide SEL lessons as a Student Services Assistant.

After gaining experience supporting students with a variety of needs under these different roles, I began pursuing my graduate degree in School Counseling. I graduated from the University of San Diego in May of 2025 and began working as a middle school counselor with San Diego Unified School District the following school year.

As a school counselor, I strive to help students foster their unique strengths and provide a safe space for them to learn and grow. I truly believe in the power of connection and I am excited to build connections with students this school year and with community as a whole. 

Fun Facts About Mr. Sandstrom

• I have an identical twin brother

• My favorite place to go in the summer is to see my family in Colorado and hike in the mountains.

•  My favorite sport to watch is baseball, go Padres!
