Application Process

If you are interested in joining our AVID program, please fill out an application. Our online application will be made available in February. The application will allow our team to assess your fit with AVID and learn more about you!

The application for the 2025-2026 school year is now open! 

Please fill out the Google Form below to get started on your AVID journey at Poway High School.

After submitting your AVID application, you can then request AVID on your Course Request Form (CRF). Please make sure to select the AVID sequence that corresponds to your grade next year during the CRF process. The AVID course sequence for each grade is provided below.

• For 9th grade: AVID 1 (#001595), AVID 2 (#001596), and Student Success (#010304).

• For 10th grade: AVID 3 (#001597), AVID 4 (#001598), and Student Success (#030304).

• For 11th grade: AVID 5 (#001599), AVID 6 (#001600), and Student Success (#050304).

• For 12th grade: AVID Senior Seminar 1 (#001609), AVID Senior Seminar 2 (#001610), and AVID 8 (#001608).

After reviewing your application, our AVID team will contact you to schedule an interview in Spring. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions about Poway High and our AVID program!

Current PHS students will be contacted by AVID coordinator Ms. Sherry Lockie to schedule an interview during Trimester 3. For current middle school students, the PHS AVID team will come to Meadowbrook Middle School and Twin Peaks Middle School to conduct interviews in March.

After the interview, students and their parents/guardians will receive an email about admission to our AVID program.
