CharacterStrong® is a comprehensive social-emotional learning (SEL) and character development program designed to help students build the skills and mindsets they need to thrive in school and in life. Developed by PurposeFull People, CharacterStrong is used by schools and educators across the country and around the world to create positive, connected, and supportive school communities.
At D39C, CharacterStrong® is used throughout the elementary school community to support students' social-emotional growth, character development, and sense of belonging. Lessons and activities are designed to be integrated into the school day and supported by educators, counseling staff, and other members of the school community.
CharacterStrong® is a skills-focused SEL and character education curriculum that emphasizes intentionally teaching students how to build healthy relationships, develop empathy, manage emotions, make responsible decisions, and demonstrate positive character. More than simply a classroom curriculum, CharacterStrong takes a whole-school approach by providing educators, families, and students with practical tools and shared language to strengthen connection, belonging, and well-being.
CharacterStrong® is grounded in research and best practices in social-emotional learning, character development, and positive school culture. Through consistent, intentional practice, the program helps schools create environments where students can develop the character and life skills they need to succeed—both in the classroom and beyond.
