Resources for Policy Outreach
at J-PAL LAC
at J-PAL LAC
At J-PAL LAC, we firmly believe that evidence is a powerful tool to fight poverty and improve people's lives. With this in mind, we bridge gaps between researchers and practitioners to make sure that policymaking is informed by evidence.
The Policy and Communications vertical at J-PAL LAC translates research into action, promoting a culture of evidence-informed policymaking in the region. Our policy analysis and outreach activities help governments, NGOs, donors, and the private sector apply evidence from randomized evaluations to their work, contributing to the public discourse around some of the most pressing questions in social policy and international development.
There are several ways in which we can work together to bring your research closer to policymakers, some of them are listed below.
Please note that some of these activities can only be carried out with J-PAL affiliates and that we have limited bandwidth, so we need to prioritize the projects we engage with.
We can support you in publishing blogs in J-PAL's website to explain the results of your evaluations to non-academic audiences. More specifically, we can help you structure the post (see example), write it in co-authorship (see example), or interview you (see example). We can also help translate your research from English to Spanish or Portuguese. If you are interested, we could also publish the blog posts on the website of our Brazilian partner Nexo Políticas Públicas or draft texts for op-eds (see example).
E2P case studies aim to describe instances in which J-PAL affiliated researchers and staff, along with government and NGO partners, have drawn on evidence produced by randomized evaluations to inform policy changes around the world. Sharing these stories gives visibility to your research, highlighting how it generated changes in "the real world".
We can create policy products to help you engage with policymakers. This includes policy publications and briefs, evaluation summaries, presentations, and other materials that may help you to communicate your work and the results of your randomized evaluations.

At J-PAL LAC we have ample experience organizing events and would love to help you co-organize webinars open to the general public.
