A) You have the requisite administrative privileges to download and install software on your computer, or;
B) You have already received assistance with downloading the following software. Please note that we'll verify that you have access to all necessary software on the first day of the training.
Stata: If you prefer to use Stata during the training, please ensure that you have Stata 16–or a newer version–installed on your computer. We can arrange temporary Stata licenses for the training for those who need it. If you need a temporary Stata license, there is a question on the Logistics Form to indicate this.
R, R Studio, and Swirl: If you prefer to use R during the training, you should complete the installation instructions found here. This process takes approximately 20-30 minutes on decent internet speed.
Please follow these these instructions to download Git and set up a GitHub account on your computer. As noted in the instructions, please email na_training@povertyactionlab.org your GitHub username and how familiar you are with git/GitHub (we will use this information to make groups for an exercise).
LaTeX and LyX: Please download both. For LaTeX, any distribution will work; MiKTeX and TeXLive should work well.

We’ll use Slack to communicate during the training. Please join our North America RST 2025 workspace, download the Slack App (PC | Mac | Android | iPhone), and adjust your notifications to stay in the loop.
