To foster an environment in which all participants are set up for success, we ask everyone—including ourselves—to commit to the following community guidelines. If there are any additional norms you'd like us to add to this list in order to bolster your learning, please email na_training@povertyactionlab.org.
Ask questions.
If you are confused, someone else probably is, too, and it will be helpful to everyone if you ask questions.
Engage in respectful discussions.
We will strive to listen and speak respectfully. We can be fairly casual, but be sure not to interrupt when others are speaking. Respect others’ rights to hold opinions and beliefs that differ from your own. If you disagree, challenge or criticize the idea, not the person.
Participate actively.
We hope to make this week interactive, so you’re very much encouraged to contribute to the discussion. We also ask that you share responsibility for including all voices. If you notice that you’re speaking up a lot, try to pause before responding so that others can contribute.
Be mindful of time.
We will make sure to keep an eye on the time so we can get enough breaks—these are long days. In the interest of time we may not get to every question, but we’ll do our best and can answer additional questions after the session.
Take care of this shared space.
This is a shared space with a limited number of staff who are working hard to make sure everyone has a productive experience. Please be sure to:
Dispose of your own trash and
Clear your own dishes at meals
We have a shared responsibility to take good care of the space we’re using this week.
