2015-2016

Poteet FFA members competed on various nights during the San Antonio Rodeo in the calf scramble. Students who participated were Markus Aguilar, Alexandra Garcia, Justin Horn, Kayli Kennedy, Jayci Kennedy, Ruby Jo Peoples, Jake Poth, Brooke Rasmussen, Derek Scharmann, Sammy Ritchey, and Hannah Watts. Students who caught a calf include: Jake Poth, Sammy Ritchey, Ruby Jo Peoples, Brooke Rasmussen, and Derek Scharmann.

Poteet FFA participated at the Area X District Plant ID and Homesite CDEs on Thursday October 1st at Welder Wildlife Refuge in Sinton. Placings were as followed: Chapter Plant ID: Placed 1st out of 21 teams. Max Orta was 1st highpoint, Ross Mikolajzyk was 2nd, Jayci Kennedy was 12th, and Rex Yee placed 14th out of 81 contestants.

Chapter Homesite placed 7th out of 23 teams. Clay Akers placed 6th, other members of the team were Cody Gillespie, Sammy Ritchey, and Patrick Gonzales

Greenhand Plant ID: Placed 7th out of 14 teams. Hannah Watts was 6th place, other members of the team were Kaye Gonzales, Kylie Garcia, and Clayton Soto

The Chapter Plant ID Team will advance to State Competition in Lubbock on April 23rd, 2016

The Texas FFA state officers came and spoke to the Poteet FFA and Jr. FFA Members on September 28th. They spoke about leadership qualities and how students can make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Poteet FFA participated at the Wintergarden District Plant ID, Land, and Homesite CDE on Thursday at the Peeler Ranch in Tilden. Placings were as followed:

Chapter Plant ID - Placed 1st out of 29 teams. Max Orta was High Point winner out of 107 contestants, Rex Yee placed 3rd High Point, Ross Mikolajczyk placed 6th and Jayci Kennedy placed 17th. Other team participants were Pedro Pedraza, Destine Delgado and Alexandra Garcia.

Greenhand Plant ID placed 9th out of 21 teams. Team members are: Hannah Watts, Kaye Gonzales, Kylie Garcia, Seth Ritchey and Clay Soto.

Chapter Homesite placed 6th out of 14 teams. Team members are: Clay Akers, Patrick Gonzales, Cody Gillespie, Sammy Ritchey and Ruby Jo Peoples.

Chapter Land team members are: Jared Stevens, William Sanders, Aiden Panza

Poteet FFA members attended a Leadership Lab in Zapata, TX. The members rotated between sessions which were taught by our Winter Garden District Officers. The officers each taught about a different leadership skill and Ross Mikolajczyk taught his session about communication. The members that attended were Sammy Ritchey, Bernard Aguilar, Patrick Gonzales, Ross Mikolajczyk, Jake Poth, Pedro Pedraza, Clay Soto, Abel Betancourt, Karen Ortega, Jayci Kennedy, Hannah Watts, Seth Ritchey, Bobby Palmer, Derek Scharman, Markus Aguilar, and Kaye Gonzales.

Poteet FFA members and chapter officers attended the 87th Annual Texas FFA State Convention in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 13-17. Clayton Akers and Cheyanne Gomez received their Lone Star FFA Degree, Caitlin Crisp and Rebekah Wagner received scholarships from the Richard Wallrath Educational Foundation, and Shannon Dooley was a member of the Texas FFA Chorus.
