Contest Center Information
Contest centers will be split between our High School building (John R. Mott) and our Elementary building (Cora B. Darling). We need to utilize both buildings as the high school has our gymnasium and the elementary has our cafeteria. The buildings are right next to each other, so it is a very brief walk outside.
Center 1:
Musical Theatre
(Room 501, John R. Mott Building)
This is one of our brand-new classrooms and is not currently being used, so there is plenty of space to perform! A standard chair will be provided, however you may bring your own.
Center 2:
Public Address & Storytelling
(Room 502, John R. Mott Building)
This is one of our brand-new classrooms and is not currently being used, so there is plenty of space to perform! A podium will be provided for Public Address. A stool will be provided for Storytelling, however you may bring your own.
Center 3:
Improvisation
(Room 505, John R. Mott Building)
This is one of our brand-new classrooms, with a large open area at the front to perform.
A standard chair will be provided.
Center 4:
Review & Acting
(Room 506, John R. Mott Building)
This is one of our brand-new classrooms. The white board can be used as a projection surface. A small table will be provided for review. A standard chair will be provided for acting.
Center 5:
After Dinner Speaking & Poetry
(John R. Mott Building, Room 305)
Standard classroom with podium.
Center 6:
Original Oratory
(John R. Mott Building, Room 301)
Standard classroom. A podium will be provided.
Center 7:
Videocasting
(John R. Mott Building, Room 202)
Standard classroom. White board will be used as projection surface. Please make sure to bring your own projector and speaker. Wi-fi will not be available, so you will need to be able to play your video offline.
Center 8:
Expository Address
(John R. Mott Building, Room 200)
Standard classroom. There is a pull-down screen or the white board can be used as a projection surface. A small table will be provided.
Center 9:
Poetry
(Cora B. Darling Building, Room 403)
Standard classroom. Space will be cleared for a performance area.
Center 10:
Acting
(Cora B. Darling Building, Room 401)
Standard classroom with larger area for performance. A standard chair will be provided.
Center 11:
Spontaneous Speaking & Prose
(Cora B. Darling Building, Room 404)
Standard classroom. A small table will be provided for Spontaneous Speaking performer to sit at while they prepeare.
Center 12:
Literary Program & Storytelling
(Cora B. Darling Building, Room 309)
Standard classroom. A stool will be provided for Storytelling, however you may bring your own.
Center 13:
Radio News Announcing &
Solo Musical Theatre
(Cora B. Darling Building, Room 308)
(Radio News prep room is across the hall in Room 307)
Media Center. Performers will report to the Radio prep room 30 minutes prior to their scheduled performance time. Once it is time to perform, the student will be taken to a classroom adjcacent to the media center to deliver their broadcast.
A standard chair will be provided for musical theatre, however you may bring your own.
Center 14:
Storytelling
(Cora B. Darling Building, Room 303)
Standard classroom. Front area will be cleared to create a performance space. A stool will be provided, however you may bring your own.
Center 15:
Prose
(Cora B. Darling Building, Room 302)
Standard classroom. Space will be cleared for a performance area.
Team Headquarters
(John R. Mott Building, Gymnasium)
The gym will be home base for all teams. Ratings will be posted here throughout the day. Buses and school vehicles can drop students off in the U in front of the school. The main entrance to the gym is at the bottom of the U.
Balls, noisemakers, loud music and anything else deemed to be disruptive to the contest environment is prohibited.
