Cycle Champions in Schools
Our Mission
This programme will empower young people to become actively involved in climate change measures, specifically sustainable transport and developing a cycling culture, in their own locality.
Leadership skills will be developed and put into practice and peer support networks will be fostered.
Young children from neighbouring primary schools will get opportunities to take part in fun cycling activities!
Leadership
Cycle Champions is a leadership programme that upskills the transition years to deliver cycle training in a local primary school. Leadership skills will be developed and put into practice in local schools.

Cycling Culture
This programme will empower young people to become actively involved in climate change measures, specifically sustainable transport, and cultivating a cycling culture in their own locality.
Peer Support
There are many social issues that discourage young people from cycling. An important part of this programme is peer support networks for young people who would like to cycle more for their everyday journeys.
Resource Packs for Cycle Champions
These resource packs contains the game cards and lesson plans needed to support the transition years when delivering to primary schools.
The programme has been developed as part of a South East Technological University research project co-funded by Kilkenny County Council and the Irish Research Council in collaboration with Cycling Ireland.
