I just discovered that Mark Rober has posted a new video! For those of you who know the squirrel challenge, you will definitely enjoy his new obstacle course for the octopus! You can not watch this video and not become fascinated with octopuses or octopi or octopodes (say it how you like - all are correct). Check it out!

Our literary bunny has been back for periodic visits to see his many loyal fans! When not at the Daly Library, he is taking over Mrs. Pinto's family room and plotting to rule the felines in the household.
Left: Eating his favorite meal (Hay, Lettuce, carrot shavings, sprinkling of oats and topped with a yogurt drop and alfalfa treat) Special thanks to Amery for a ton of delicious Timothy Hay and Jack for all the scrumptious treats!!!

The National Educational Association started Read Across America Day in 1988 to celebrate the joys of reading. It also brings awareness to the importance of reading in education and helps to motivate kids to read more. The date was selected to coincide with the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.
Dr. Seuss is known as one of the greatest authors of children's books. Most kids have grown up reading his many entertaining books such as Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax, and Horton Hears a Who! In recent years, six of Dr. Seuss' books have been criticized as culturally insensitive and are no longer in print. However, we still celebrate his many wonderful books, as well as a variety of other diverse and amazing books in our library!
Join us for a visit with children's author/poet Jacqueline Jules on February 15th from 6:30 -7:00 p.m. Jacqueline is a Port Washington resident! For more information about her, click here!

2022/23 is definitely a better year for the John J. Daly Library! We have beautiful new student desks and chairs that can be easily reconfigured, a fantastic new interactive TV and an amazing couch that seats many students for instruction and storytime, new browsing displays and picture book shelving, beautiful area carpets and more! While we still have some work to do (ie: window treatments, additional fiction shelving, entrance display and signage), we are so pleased with the work that has been done and absolutely love the improvements that have made our library so special and comfortable!
Watching the reactions and facial expressions of the students coming into the library for the first time this year has been priceless!
Stay tuned for pictures in the upcoming newsletter!
Our district now subscribes to CLEVER, which is a convenient way for students and staff to access valuable websites and apps!!! This is going to be a game-changer for our elementary students! Instead of having to remember IDs and passwords to log into all of our great resources, Clever is going to allow them access with a single login. I am so excited and can't wait to get this implemented! Move to come soon!!!
We will be holding our 3rd Read-a-thon and have many fun events and prizes available!!! Stay tuned for more details!
