PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Sun school for rising 7th and 8th graders who need support meeting grade level English Language Arts and Math standards. Morning programming focused on educational skills and afternoons of fun team-building opportunities. There will also be tutoring opportunities for students who are recommended to attend the July Summer School.
AGES: Rising 7th and 8th graders.

LOCATION: Deering High School
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to prepare incoming 9th grade students to succeed in the Accelerated Mathematics Program (AMP) at Portland High School. Students will study AMP (Accelerated Math Program) prerequisite concepts in Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Statistics, and Number Theory. Major topics will include sets and properties of numbers, linear equations and inequalities, literal equations and polynomial operations. This course is specifically designed for students who are not yet done with the AMP prerequisites in order to be fully prepared in advanced algebra content before 9th grade. This course will award students 1 high school math credit. Successful completion of this course will allow students to enroll in accelerated math courses in 9th grade.
AGES: Rising 9th graders.
