At Reiche School we are concerned with all students' attendance and expect students to be at school on time, every day. We aim to work with families to remove any barriers to good attendance.
Please call our front office when a student is late or absent for the day: 874-8175. If we do not hear from you in advance, the school is required to call you as a safety check.
The first few times your student is absent, expect a call from your child's teacher. We miss students when they are gone!
If your child is absent more than 5 days, you may receive an email or text update from the school counselor.
If your child is absent more than 8 days, you may receive a letter from a Lead Teacher to update you on your child's attendance.
If your child is absent more than 10 days, a member of the Family Support Team may follow up with you.
If a child is absent more than 15 days in a school year, you will receive a letter in the mail and a Lead Teacher may ask to meet with you.
Please note: the above outlines Reiche's school policy to assist families in building good habits for ours students. The following are district-wide policies and/or state law:
Students who have 5 consecutive, unexcused absences (the parent does not call and we are unable to reach them) are reported as legally "truant".
Students who have 7 unexcused absences (total, not consecutive) are reported as legally "truant".
Students who miss 10% of the school year or more (typically 18 days total, depending on enrollment date), are reported to the Superintendent as "chronically absent".
