Children are organized when parents are organized, too! Once a routine is in place your child will become more self-reliant. Habits formed early will be carried on moving forward so start early!
- Encourage a positive routine. If one system doesn't work for your child don't force it. Try another. You want a routine that they want to consistently follow.
- Suggest places at home to keep supplies. Have a nice space allocated for extra materials so time isn't wasted looking for that one sharpened pencil.
- Help keep track of important dates such as tests, long term projects and assignments besides your child's agenda. Many assignments are posted on google. Make sure your child is prepared for them.
- Extra help is needed all the time. If your child is still having trouble staying organized, touch base with a teacher or counselor. Tutors can also help teach study skills.
