Dear LCE Families,
Last week wrapped up our second week back to school, and it was another wonderful week of adjusting to our routines, getting back into the rhythm of learning, and building community together. We also ended the week with our kickoff to highlight Turtle Trot, coming up on September 19th.
A huge shout out to our PTO and staff for their flexibility in shifting plans at the last minute for this kickoff. Your efforts helped maintain the excitement around our primary fundraiser for the school year. Thank you to our PTO and families for your ongoing commitment to making this event such a success! Not only does Turtle Trot create excitement for our students, but it also sponsors many amazing activities and provides valuable resources for both staff and students.
Looking ahead to this week, we will have our first full week of school and continue with our benchmark screeners. We will also take time to learn about the different types of drills we will practice throughout the school year. Additionally, we will end the week with school pictures on Friday. As a reminder, there is no need to order ahead or send money on picture day—proofs will be sent home in a few weeks.
We hope you have a great week!

Orville is excited to be back to school and working! He had a busy summer so we will take the next few weeks for him to adjust being back to work. An important reminder we are working on with students and staff is that when Orville is out walking on the leash, he should not be pet. We have scheduled time for him to have direct contact with students with trained staff members. If you see Orville in the building or outside, please feel free to give him a wave but avoid touching him. Thank you for your help in ensuring we keep Orville trained to help support students!
