Nau Mai Haere Mai and Welcome to our Site.
Formerly known as Kāhui Ako 1 , our name is Te Manawa o Whangārei Kāhui Ako. It reflects that many of our schools are in the heart of Whangārei.
In Tayla's logo design, the pohutukawa flower with nine hearts represents the nine schools in our Kāhui Ako, and the seedlings to the left of the maunga represent our early learning centres, our kakano at the beginning of their learning journey.
You can see Mount Parihaka and Hatea River which shows our connection to Whangārei and of course, both are integral to our pepeha- who we are and where we are from.
Tayla wanted to reflect Hundertwasser in the design using no straight lines and also in the pathway which reflects our collaborative journey together.
Ko Parihaka te maunga

Welcome to our Kāhui Ako site.
Our goal is to make a positive difference for akonga in the Whangārei rohe.
Te Manawa o Whangārei Kāhui Ako is a collaborative educational relationship between 8 schools and 14 early learning centres. Our Kāhui Ako is in the Whangārei rohe, in Northland. Our learning centres include not only schools and early childhood centres in central Whangarei but also those in our outer lying coastal and farming communities as well as St Josephs in Dargaville.
Our aim is to form collaborative partnerships between all parties. This will enable us to identify the different strengths, expertise and possibilities across sectors and share models of good practice within our Kāhui Ako to benefit all learners.
