Executive Summary

The Polly Bemis Ranch is a privately owned 27-acre destination on the Main Salmon River and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places where Polly’s Cabin has been preserved.


Polly Bemis Ranch Members value a High Quality Environment, Conservation and Safety. The Ranch operates with an on-site Ranch Manager and staff, seasonally from first of March to mid-November. Primary ingress/egress to the Ranch is by jetboats which are also used to provide fishing and recreation opportunities to our Members and their guests. The facilities at the Ranch include six Member Cabins, Crew Quarters, Recreation Building, Library, and other Utility structures.


The Polly Bemis Ranch has been governed by River Holdings, Inc since 1992 and has a limited number of ownership shares. The Corporation manages the Ranch with a clear, vision, mission, values, rights, and privileges. These allow the Members to utilize the Ranch’s facilities 14 cabin days per year per share. There is an annual balanced operating budget which is financed through quarterly Member dues.

Site Amenities

Full infrastructure and amenities to support all operational facets. The grounds are all fully sprinkled and landscape beautifully maintained including a garden for the Ranch Crew. All structures have full plumbing including septic, hot water, spring fed drinking water to each. Power provided by both hydro and generator. In addition to the cabins, there is a main recreation building and library, and don’t forget the hot tub!

Cabin Amenities

All (6) cabins boast the perfect balance of both rustic and comfortable appeal with fully furnished (2) bedroom, (2) walk-in bathrooms, full kitchen with fridge, stoves and all the cookware you need, dining and living rooms with TV and BluRay. Outdoor grill, firewood, patio chairs and table. The cabins offer both propane as well as wood heat.

Wildlife & Recreation

As your recreation destination there is plenty to see and do for all. Scenic jetboat trips on the Salmon River to see the history, fishing, hiking the network of trails on both sides of the river, entertaining you or your guests with a game of horseshoes, cornhole, billiards, shuffleboard, foosball, card games, disc golf or relaxing by the river on the big sandy beach the menu is to your choosing. No matter what you choose, you are sure to be fulfilled while witnessing the wonderful wildlife that circulates amongst the Ranch and Salmon River canyon.

Getting Here

Getting here is half the fun. A 4 hour total drive from Boise, ID via HWY 55 or 95 to the town of Riggins and then turning upstream on the Main Salmon River for a truly unique scenic experience till you reach the end of the road where Ranch jetboats will be waiting for you to board. A breathtaking 30 minute ride upriver through whitewater rapids to the Ranch where the Ranch Crew awaits you and your guests to haul your gear up to your cabin.


For the adventure seekers, access can also come from flying in via charter or personal aircraft to the Shepp Ranch across river and the Ranch boat will come  pick you up. Other alternatives can be hiking in from Warren, ID on the very path Charlie and Polly Bemis trekked 100 years ago.
