About Your Teacher

Welcome to our web site! My name is Mrs. Lisa Collins, and I've been teaching 5th Grade at Nellie Bennett since 2004. It's a wonderful place to be! Prior to teaching in Point Pleasant, I taught 4th grade, for 4 fabulous years, at McKinley Elementary School in Westfield, NJ.

I received my B.S. in Elementary Education with a Minor in Special Education, at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. In 2006, I earned my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Rutgers University. Therefore, I'm qualified to be a guidance counselor, which I may pursue in the future. Luckily, I get a lot of experience in that field just being an elementary school teacher.

I live in Point Pleasant with my husband, son and daughter. We enjoy living in this area because there are so many fun things to do around here. I love reading, exercising, watching sports, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends. I am a huge YANKEES and GIANTS fan.

I earned my Google for Education Certification - Level 1. I am also the Class Dojo Mentor for our school. I've been using Class Dojo for many years now, and it's been a great resource for communicating with parents and celebrating students' success.
