Deputy Director, GCED Cooperation Centre Philippines
Warm greetings and a sincere welcome to all participants of the 3rd GCC International Research Conference on Global Citizenship Education (IRCON GCED 2026).
As we convene this year’s conference, we are reminded that the strength of Global Citizenship Education lies not only in theory, but in the shared commitment of institutions and individuals to translate ideas into meaningful action. IRCON GCED 2026 provides a valuable space where dialogue meets practice—where research informs policy, and where collaboration inspires transformation.
This gathering highlights the evolving role of higher education as a bridge—connecting local realities with global aspirations. Through the diverse subthemes of this conference, we are invited to reflect on how educational institutions can become more responsive, inclusive, and forward-looking in addressing the pressing issues of our time—from climate challenges to social justice, and from peacebuilding to cultural understanding.
Equally important is the opportunity this conference offers to strengthen partnerships. By bringing together GCC Regional Hubs, academic institutions, and international partners, we reinforce a shared vision: that education must be rooted in empathy, responsibility, and sustainability. It is through these partnerships that innovative ideas are nurtured and scaled for broader impact.
As Deputy Director, I take pride in witnessing how this platform continues to grow—not only as a venue for academic exchange, but as a community of practice committed to advancing Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development in tangible and transformative ways.
May this conference inspire new perspectives, deepen collaborations, and encourage each of us to contribute actively to shaping a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world through education.
We are honored by your presence and engagement.
