Message from the Convenor

Welcome to the 3rd GCC International Research Conference on Global Citizenship Education (IRCON GCED 2026).

As Project Convenor, it is both an honor and a responsibility to help bring together this dynamic platform for exchange, collaboration, and action. This conference represents months of collective effort—from conceptualization to coordination—driven by a shared commitment to advancing Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in meaningful and practical ways.

IRCON GCED 2026 is designed not only as a venue for presenting research, but as a working space where ideas are tested, perspectives are challenged, and solutions are co-created. Each session, discussion, and engagement has been thoughtfully curated to encourage active participation and critical reflection across diverse areas such as institutional transformation, climate education, social justice, and peacebuilding.

Behind every paper presented and every dialogue facilitated is the intention to move beyond conversation and towards implementation. We hope that participants will leave this conference with not only new insights, but also concrete strategies, strengthened networks, and renewed motivation to embed GCED and ESD within their respective institutions and communities.

We also recognize that the success of this conference lies in the collaboration of many—our partner institutions, GCC Regional Hubs, organizing teams, and all contributors who have dedicated their time and expertise to make this event possible.

As we gather in Palawan State University, may this conference serve as a catalyst for sustained action, inspiring each of us to take part in shaping education systems that are responsive, inclusive, and transformative.
