President, Philippine Normal University
Warm greetings to all delegates, researchers, educators, policymakers, students, and partners gathered for the 3rd GCC International Research Conference on Global Citizenship Education (IRCON GCED 2026), centered on the theme, “Academe as a Global Actor for Peace and Global Citizenship Education: Transformative Pathways for International Understanding through Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship Education.”
As our world faces increasingly complex challenges, higher education institutions are called not only to produce knowledge, but also to cultivate compassion, promote sustainability, and prepare learners to become responsible global citizens. As the National Center for Teacher Education, the Philippine Normal University, through the GCED Cooperation Centre–Philippines, remains steadfast in advancing Global Citizenship Education as a foundation for transformative education.
This conference provides a valuable platform for collaboration, dialogue, and the exchange of innovative ideas while strengthening partnerships that advance Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development. Together, we reaffirm our shared commitment to building more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable communities through education.
I extend my sincere appreciation to Palawan State University, the GCC Regional Hubs, the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines, APCEIU, and all our partners for their unwavering support of this shared mission. May this conference inspire meaningful collaboration, impactful research, and renewed commitment to nurturing globally competent, socially responsible, and future-ready citizens. I wish everyone a productive and meaningful conference.
