In the fortnightly timetable, 60% of your lessons are part of the core curriculum (30 lessons per fortnight). This means that most of a Key Stage 4 student's time in school is spent on subjects that everyone studies, like English, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Personal Development and Philosophy & Ethics. These subjects are compulsory because they give you important skills and knowledge that you’ll need for the future, no matter what career path you choose. Unlike other parts of your timetable where you might have some choice, the core curriculum is the same for everyone to make sure you get a strong foundation in key areas of learning.
