Warm-Up Games

Warm-up games are used to prepare for practices and shows, and unlike other games, don't require characters. They're often spontaneous, designed to get players motivated, engerzied, and ready to perform.

Bippity Bippity Bop

Bippity Bippity Bop is a game that is used to warm players up both physically and mentally. To begin, all of the players form a circle. Then, one person steps into the middle. A player in the center of the circle is “in the middle”. The player goes around to other players saying “Bibbity Bippity Bop”, or any other variation of rhyming like “Flibbity Flippity Flop” or “Tribbity Trippity Trop”. The other player then has to say “Bop/Flop/Trop” at the same time as the person in the middle. If the player says the wrong word or says it too late/not at all, that person then becomes the person in the middle. The player in the middle can also say “Kitty”, “General”, “Cow”, etc. whereas the other player has to respond with the corresponding “Meow”, “Mow”, “Moo” etc. More physical variations include “Toaster”, “Elephant”, “Moose”, “Kool-Aid Man”, “Testosterone”, etc. all with their own corresponding actions from the other player and the players to their sides.

Fuzzy Duck

Fuzzy Duck is a word game that is strictly a warm-up game, as a slip-of-the-tongue would result in a Brown Bag Foul if it occurred in an actual show. In this game, the players all stand in a circle. One player turns to the left and says "Fuzzy Duck." The words "Fuzzy Duck" are passed clockwise around the circle one player at a time until someone says "Does he?" to the last player who says "Fuzzy Duck". That player will then have to say "Ducky Fuzz" to the player at their right. The words "Ducky Fuzz" are passed counter-clockwise around the circle until someone else says, "Does he?"

Zip-Zap-Zop

Zip-Zap-Zop is a game used as a warm-up to make the players listen to each other and watch each other. Players all stand in a circle. One player points to another player in the circle and says, "Zip!" The indicated player must then point to a third player and say "Zap!" The third player then points to a fourth player and says "Zop!" The cycle repeats as quickly as possible. Throughout the course of the game, someone may turn to the player to their right or left and say "Beep". The "beeps" will be passed through the circle until they are interrupted by a "Zip". Other variations of responses can be added such as “Samurai”, where the assigned player slashes an invisible sword at another player in the circle. The other two players on either side will slash their ‘swords’ at the assigned player. “Bunny” is when the player in the middle points to the assigned player and says “Bunny”. The assigned player must then place both hands on their head like bunny ears and repeat the words, "Bunny bunny bunny bunny!" The player to their right must do the same, but only using the left hand. The opposite is true for the player on the left.
