All students entering seventh grade are required to read THREE books total this summer (see below for details). One book needs to be non-fiction, one can be free choice (both of these should be chosen from the Faculty Recommendations linked below), and one is a requirement from your ELA teacher. We ask that students read books that they have not previously read and that are age appropriate or above their reading level.
7th graders must select ONE of the following books to include in their three:
Matched (Book #1) by Ally Condie
Eleven by Tom Rogers
Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis
Please note - you no longer need to submit the Summer Reading Verification Form. Through the format of an in-class writing assignment, students will concisely write about their summer reading. You are more than welcome to use the books and/or notes you’ve taken that will aid you in your writing that day. Please be aware that this will happen during our second week of school (you will be told the exact date once school begins).
NOTE: Students may substitute a book of their choosing in place of ONE selection from the teacher recommended list IF they receive faculty approval. Requests for approval may be emailed to aeshelman@plumsteadchristian.org and must be done prior to August 1st.
Students may check-out the books throughout the summer Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 3 pm.
Students must sign in at the office before going to the library.
Books must be checked-out on the "self check-out” list.
Please respect others ... return books in two weeks so another person can check out
