It has been a busy couple of weeks of conferences and this school year is flying by! The holidays are a time to reflect back on the year and think about all the things that we are thankful for. Thank you for trusting us with your children and family! We are thankful for your partnership and for our Early Learning team as we work together to support your child's growth and development.
A HUGE THANK YOU for joining us for Parent/Teacher Conferences and for the outstanding donations to our Winter Clothing Drive! Staff also greatly appreciated the yummy dinner, treats and drinks brought in for conferences!
Enjoy moments with your little ones and loved one over the holiday break!
Volunteer
We value the time and talents of our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering in your child's class, please reach out to your child's teacher. If you would like to join our Parent Advisory or volunteer to support our program, please contact Erin Metoxen at emetoxen@plsas.org or Lori Parker at lparker@plsas.org.
Ideas to volunteer in preschool:
Mystery Readers - 15-20 min
Snack Helper - 15-20 min
Play time helper - 15-20 min
Come and share something about your culture (e.g. family traditions, cultural celebrations, etc.) - 15-20 min
Come in and talk to the class about your occupation - 15-20 min
Parents feel free to reach-out to your Teachers directly if you would like to helpout in your child's classroom.
For families who are unable to travel to the school, if you want to volunteer your time at home, you could do prep type work at home and send back with your child.
If you are unable to attend in person, we could set up a Google Meet or you could make a video of yourself reading or talking about your culture/occupation, teach a song, play an instrument, demonstrate a hobby/talent.
Safety
In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff, those who wish to visit a building during the school day are only granted access through one door to the main office, or check-in desk, where they are greeted by a staff member who will make sure they know their business with the school and properly sign in using our visitor management system. This system allows us to track visitors in our buildings and enhance our existing school safety plans.
Visitors are asked to present a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, which is scanned into the system. The system will then conduct an on-the-spot background check against the national sex-offender database. Once entry is approved, a sticker badge will be issued. Wear the visitor badge at all times for access to hallways, classrooms, etc.
Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to maintain a safe and secure educational environment for our students!
