Camp Bear Creek (an overnight camp located in Jones County, Iowa) is in need of high school volunteers this summer! Come join us for a fun-filled, incredible week and make a HUGE impact in the lives of countless campers!
Female volunteers only: Our Camping4Girls summer camp program serves over 110 4th grade girls from under-privileged homes throughout Iowa. Volunteer counselors assist our camp staff and help lead the girls in activities like swimming, arts and crafts, kayaking, and games, as well as supervise them in their cabins at night. Camping4Girls Volunteers are needed the weeks of June 7-12. Volunteers must be current juniors in high school or older to apply. Earn 120 volunteer hours with just one week of service!
Male and female volunteers: Our traditional summer camp programs serve children and youth between the ages of 5 and 17. These programs are religious in nature, so volunteers must be comfortable working and participating in a Christian program. Volunteer counselors assist our camp staff in caring for campers and leading activities like swimming, kayaking, archery, and Bible study, as well as caring for the campers at night. Volunteers are needed during the weeks of June 14-19, June 21-26, July 5-10, July 12-17, and July 19-24. Volunteers must be current juniors in high school or older to apply. Earn 120 volunteer hours with just one week of service!

The Bettendorf Public Library is happy to offer volunteer-based teen internships again this summer. We are hoping to connect students who may be interested in a career in Library Science with a comprehensive summer internship.
Teens will have the chance to learn first-hand how libraries function, what it means to get a degree in library science, and how libraries impact the community. Projects may include: job shadowing, program planning, crafting, title selection/weeding, organizational projects, and pulling materials to fill hold requests. This program is also very accommodating to what teens are actually interested in learning. So, if they are eager to learn about Outreach and how our new bookmobile operates, then they will be able to focus their experience on Outreach!
My summer intern last year was hired as a circulation clerk here at BPL this fall! While I can't guarantee that outcome for every intern, I do think it speaks to how comprehensive and interactive the experience is. Please encourage any and all interested teens to apply! The application is open now and will close on Monday, May 11th. Teens will be notified by June 1st of their status in the program.
Here is the link to the application (also available as a QR code on the flier): https://www.bettendorflibrary.com/give-back-donate/#25821

Teens for Tomorrow!
Teens for Tomorrow is a youth leadership and philanthropy initiative led by the Quad Cities Community Foundation. As members of this program, high schoolers from across the Quad Cities learn about the challenges our community faces and get to be an active part of the solution by getting to know community organizations, fundraising, and awarding more than $10,000 in grants to support the causes they care about. In fact, this year, they raised an additional $27,500 through individual donor meetings that they awarded through their competitive grant process.
Each year, we invite high school students from across Scott and Rock Island Counties to join this program by submitting an interest form (linked below).
