With the weather warming up, our summer plants are starting to make their appearance! As well as the weeds. Dave and the horticulture team need your help tending the grounds. Tasks include, but not limited to weeding, pruning, mulching, and watering (and with the warm weather ahead, our plants are mighty thirsty). When you do sign up, please be sure to wear close toed shoes, clothes you don't mind getting dirty in, and bring your own water (we will have some on hand). And you are more than welcome to bring your own gardening tools such as trowels, pruners, gloves, and kneeling pads. We do ask you kindly to put your name on your tools so we won't think they are ours. School maybe almost out, but our education team is just getting started! During the season, we are a popular destination for field trips for all sorts of grades. Heather and the education team need your help with assisting for field trips. When you sign up, you will cover a specific activity that the school kids will learn during their visit and I will send you the activity curriculum for you to look over! Do sign if you can! The Donor Programs and Communications Department at ImpactLife Blood Center in Davenport is offering exciting volunteer opportunities for students looking to give back to the community while fulfilling service-learning requirements. We are looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals who are great communicators, highly organized, and have a strong work ethic.
As a volunteer, you will assist with a variety of tasks, including:
Completing mailing projects
Inventory and organization projects
Assisting with general office duties
This is a fantastic opportunity to build valuable skills, learn more about the blood donation process, and make a real difference in saving lives. Opportunities are available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Volunteers may also work during school breaks, such as Spring Break or Summer. UnityPoint Health-Trinity has many areas that need volunteers, including: in our lobbies, gift shops, floral department, surgical waiting, as a runner throughout the hospital, on the units, and at fundraising events. We have two different programs that you could apply for. The standard program asks for a commitment of 30 hours over the course of 6 months; the accelerated summer program asks for a commitment of 80 hours from June-August. So, think about which program would work for you and apply today! Bettendorf Parks and Recreation is always looking for reliable student volunteers ages 16 and up for their recreation programs and special events. Volunteers would most likely be working with children ages 5 – 12. Events include various youth sport clinics and leagues, specialty classes, and community events. Events typically take place indoors during the winter, outdoors during the summer, on weeknights and weekends, and vary in their number of hours required. Habitat for Humanity

City of Davenport
Davenport Junior theatre Positions

There are two summer positions available at the Davenport Junior Theatre through the City of Davenport’s AmeriCorps Program, and we are looking for applicants who have a passion for theatre and arts education. The position offers a living stipend of $3,700, paid bi-weekly over the 12-week term. Participants will also receive a $1,565.08 education award at the end of the summer, which can be used to pay for current or future schooling.
The position includes:
Leading and mentoring campers to help them develop creativity and teamwork.
Participating in hands-on training to be fully prepared for camp activities.
Designing and pitching exciting camp activities, including theatre games and team-building exercises.
Working alongside camp leads to engage kids in fun, energetic activities.

Reminders:
All paperwork should be turned in on a monthly basis. This will help us to better track your progress.
Seniors are required to have their service learning requirement complete by May 1st. Any seniors who do not have their Fr/So and Jr/Sr requirement complete by May 1st will not be allowed to attend Jr/Sr Prom or be allowed to graduate.
Sophomores are required to have half their service learning done by the end of first semester of sophomore year and the remainder of the requirements complete by the last day of school. Sophomores who do not complete the requirement will receive an "F" in service learning. Students with an "F" will be ineligible for extracurricular activities, parking and school dances.
