Hello!  My name is Julie Frey, and I am the school counselor at the Pleasanton Virtual Academy.

Over the past 20 + years I have worked in many different capacities with students in the Pleasanton Unified School District.  I hold Master's degrees in Counseling and School Psychology as well as Pupil Personnel Service Credentials in both, along with a Multiple Subject teaching credential.  I began as a middle school teacher in 1996, and have since worked in PUSD as an elementary counselor, TUPE educator & cessation counselor, middle school support counselor,  home instructor for the independent study program, and school psychology intern.  During the pandemic, my family and I  lived in Almaty, Kazakhstan where I worked as the social emotional counselor for Almaty International School, which was truly an exciting and life changing experience for all of us.   In 2021 we returned to PUSD, and live locally once again.  One of our daughters currently attends school here in Pleasanton, and when I'm not working, I can  be found supporting her color guard/ marching band events, hiking, traveling, or spending down time with my family and friends.  I feel very fortunate to get to live and work in this wonderful community.

In education, I believe that every student is unique, and I  really enjoy coming alongside to support and  guide students of all ages, through each of your individual  journeys.  This year, I especially look forward to getting to know all of you, our new PVA attendees!  Welcome to our unique and flexible learning experience!

See you at PVA!
