Welcome to the exciting world of Digital Art and Media Exploration! This middle school course, designed within the framework of Career Technical Education (CTE), offers students a dynamic introduction to the multifaceted realm of digital creativity.
In this hands-on class, students will delve into the fundamentals of digital artistry, gaining proficiency in industry-standard software and tools. Through a carefully crafted curriculum, participants will explore graphic design, digital illustration, multimedia storytelling, and basic animation techniques. Emphasizing both creativity and technical skills, this course aims to nurture a well-rounded understanding of digital media.
DIGITAL ART AND MEDIA
This is a combination of the middle school technology and art courses that will expose students to the interconnected nature of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math and that will engage students in a variety of aspects. Some of the topics will include but not be limited to, the use of computers, Internet, hands-on art techniques, programs and applications based on the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Career Technical Education (CTE) Standards. Students will learn at an advanced level how to combine art techniques with computer and technology basics using communication and creativity through a variety of lessons, projects and activities designed to promote learning in the 21st Century. All students should possess strong content mastery, as well as the “Five C’s”: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and Common Core. Students will be introduced to other topics in technology, art, design and engineering with a focus on project-based learning. Primary focus will be placed on the commonality between the 8 Studio Habits of Mind and the Engineering Design Process.
Design, Visual, and Media Arts CTE Pathway The Design, Visual, and Media Arts pathway includes those occupations that use visual art, digital media, and Web-based tools and materials as the primary means of communication and expression. In addition to an understanding of current workplace practice, this career pathway requires the development of knowledge and skills in both visual art concepts as well as new and emerging digital processes by which individuals are able to create and communicate complex concepts in a broad range of occupations and professions.
