Intelligence Specialist Senior Chief
Jeffery R. Nichols, USN, (Ret)
ISCS (SW/PJ) Jeffery R. Nichols is a native of Wellston, Ohio. He enlisted
in the U.S. Army in January, 1982 and attended basic training and Airborne
school at Ft. Benning, Georgia. His first assignment was with the 2 nd Battalion,
505 th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82 nd Airborne Division. He attained the rank
of Sergeant and honorably left the Army in 1986.
After six months of civilian life, he decided that he wasn’t finished serving his country. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended recruit training in Orlando, Florida. He became an Intelligence Specialist in 1987. While in the Navy, his operational assignments included: USS NIMITZ (CVN-68); USS LaSalle (AGF-3); Fleet Ocean Surveillance Intelligence Center (FOSIC) Europe in London, England; USS HAWES (FFG-57) for Baltic OPS; Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG); USS AMERICA (CV-66) for Operation Uphold Democracy; USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72); Defense Attaché Office, Republic of Singapore and United States Strategic Command. During his career, his duties included Imagery Intelligence analyst, Operational Intelligence analyst, Human Intelligence analyst, Special Operations Intelligence analyst, OZ Division LCPO aboard CVN-72, Operations Coordinator for DAO Singapore and Senior Enlisted Advisor for J2 Division at USSTRATCOM. He retired in August, 2005 and became a Naval Science Instructor at Papillion LaVista Community Schools Navy JROTC.
