TRAFFIC SAFETY AT PLC SYDNEY
TRAFFIC SAFETY AT PLC SYDNEY
At PLC Sydney, student safety is our priority. This page provides key information on travel safety and our shared approach to creating safer drop-off and pick-up routines. By working together and following these guidelines, we help ensure every journey to and from school is safe, respectful and smooth for our whole community.
Stay in Your Car: Staff and Senior students are available to assist with getting Junior School students in and out of vehicles, and to oversee all zones at designated times.
Obey Road Rules & Signage: Follow all posted signs, including ‘No Stopping Zones,’ ‘No Parking,’ and ‘No Right Turn.’
Drive Safely: Reduce your speed, stay alert, and ensure your daughter is ready to exit or enter the car promptly.
Follow Instructions: Always adhere to the directions of PLC Sydney staff and security.
Show Courtesy: Be respectful and polite to fellow drivers, staff, and students.
Please view the video below outlining important rules and expectations regarding pick-up and drop-off.
Please familiarise yourself with these details, and help us keep students safe by following these guidelines.
A special note for Evandale students: SEAT BELTS. If using the Robinson Street Pick-Up Zone, students should be able to independently put on and take off their seatbelts. Please teach your children to do this.
Staff are on duty to assist students and families during the following times only:
Morning Drop-Off: 8.15 am until 8.30 am
Pre-Kindergarten Afternoon Pick-Up: 2.40 pm until 3.15 pm
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 Afternoon Pick-Up: 3.05 pm until 3.15 pm
The Evandale Drop Off & Pick-Up Zone is on Robinson Street outside of Evandale.
Pre-K can be collected from Robinson Street at 2.40 pm. Students can transfer to co-curricular activities or are supervised until 3.30 pm and taken to TheirCare if required.
Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 students can be collected at Robinson Street from 3.05 pm until 3.15 pm.
Students are then taken to the Roundabout where they are supervised until 3.30 pm.
If you arrive early before school, please park your car and walk your daughter to Evandale, entering via the Robinson Street gate which opens at 8.15 am.
If you arrive after 3.15 pm, your daughter will be escorted to the Roundabout and can be picked up there until 3.30 pm.
If you are later than 3.30 pm, please refer to the After Hours pick-up information below.
1. Do not leave your vehicle. Drivers should remain in the car whilst children get in or out.
2. Arrive a little later, when traffic eases.
3. Do not cut into the queue.
4. If the Pick-Up Zone is full, drive around the block and return to try again.
5. Do not wait on the corner of Robinson Street and Boundary Street – you will be fined by Burwood Council or booked by Police.
6. For morning drop-off, Evandale students can be dropped off at the Roundabout from 8.00 am or Robinson Street after 8.15 am.
Staff and Senior Students are on duty between:
Morning Drop-Off: 8.00 am to 8.20 am
Afternoon Pick-Up: 3.05 pm to 3.30 pm
Enter from Boundary Street by turning in left only.
Please do not turn right from Boundary Street into the Roundabout. It has a ‘No Right Turn’ sign.

For morning drop-off, Evandale students can be dropped off at Robinson Street or the Roundabout. In the afternoon, they can be picked up from either place.
Evandale students who have older siblings will be escorted to the Roundabout from 3.05 pm.
If you arrive early, parents are welcome to park, walk to the school, wait at the bottom of the Hamilton Ramp/undercover outside Meta Street Reception, and meet your daughter. Please do not wait outside classrooms or locker areas.
1. George (Security Guard) or his delegate
2. Junior School Executive
3. Junior School teacher/s
4. Senior School students (Years 10 or 11)
5. The Principal will attend on occasion
1. Enter from Boundary Street:
There are two lanes. You can use either lane.
Please have your Last Name Sign displayed so staff can recognise your name and get your daughter ready to meet you.
2. Follow George’s Instructions:
George will be stationed where the roundabout begins. He will direct traffic.
Wait for his signal before moving forward.
If George is not there, please follow the directions of the Staff on duty.
3. Use the Non-Pick-Up Side Lane if Directed:
George may ask you to wait on the non-pick-up side of the Roundabout if your daughter is not ready.
This allows other cars in the queue to access the pick-up area and speeds up the line.
4. Move to the Pick-Up Bay promptly:
Once George signals you, please drive as far along the pick-up zone as possible.
Staff and/or Senior students will wave you forward to the appropriate bay.
5. Student Collection:
Your daughter will be brought to the designated bay for collection.
Encourage your daughter to watch for your car and be ready at the bottom of the steps when instructed. Staff will assist with this process.
If your daughter is not ready, a Senior student will ask for her name and inform the staff member on duty, who will call for her.
Do not exit your car.
6. Bag and Item Handling:
Bags should be ready for collection in your vehicle's cabin floor for morning drop-off, and will be placed in the cabin at pick up by the staff member assisting your daughter at afternoon pick-up.
Staff and Senior students are unable to move between cars to access the boot.
For larger items (e.g., a cello), the staff member will place them in the front seat of the car. If the boot is required, the staff member will attend to this.
7. Stay in Your Vehicle:
For safety and efficiency, you must remain in your car at all times.
8. If Your Daughter is Delayed:
Occasionally, your daughter may be held up in the classroom.
If this happens, staff will ask you to wait on the non-pick-up side until she arrives.
George will manage traffic to allow you back into the pick-up zone.
9. Exit the Roundabout
When your daughter is safely in the car, ensure all doors are closed before moving.
Exit the Roundabout slowly, via the gate.
The Roundabout is particularly busy at the start of the year. It is always difficult on stormy, wet or windy days.
Arrive after 3.20 pm when traffic eases. The Roundabout is generally clear by this time.
Wait a little distance from the school until the peak pick-up time has passed before driving into the Roundabout.
Alternatively, arrive early, park and walk up to the school to meet your daughter at the Hamilton/Meta Street undercover area.
If you queue along Boundary Street when the driveway is full, Burwood Council will book you. This is a ‘No Standing’ Zone.
Staff and Senior students are on duty between:
Morning Drop-Off: 8.00 am to 8.20 am
Afternoon Pick-Up: 3.05 pm to 3.30 pm
Please drive into the zone along Young Street and move up the car line as far as you can. Do not stop in the middle of the drop-off zone.
Allow your daughter to exit the car with her bags or to board the vehicle.
Take care when exiting the car line. Please ensure you indicate and be aware of oncoming traffic from both directions.
Senior School teachers are on duty until 3.30 pm. The Deputy Principal oversees this zone.
Between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm, we ask that students wait inside the Young Street gate until they pull into the pick-up zone.
We ask that all students be picked up from the Roundabout after 4.30 pm. See After Hours (below) for details.
Buses stop along Young Street.
In the mornings, Evandale students who catch buses are collected at the College by a designated Senior student, walked to the Roundabout Verandah, and then walked across to Evandale by a teacher.
Years 3-12 students make their own way to their classroom areas to commence the day.
The Staff Car Park on Young Street is in use 24 hours a day.
Do not enter the Staff Car Park on Young Street. Please do not obstruct the driveway.
Evandale Students (Pre-K to 2): Please park legally and walk up to the College to escort your daughter to the appropriate venue or to Early Birds in Hamilton Hall.
Junior School Students (Years 3 to 6): For early activities, Junior School students can be dropped off at the Roundabout to make their own way to the venue, or to Early Birds in Hamilton Hall.
Senior School: Senior School students should be dropped off at Young Street.
Please note that staff are not on duty before 8.00 am at drop-off zones.
Senior School Students:
The Roundabout is the pick-up point for all Senior School students after 4.30 pm.
It is safer for your daughter to wait inside the school if she has an after-school activity or if you are running late. If you have a car accident or an emergency, your daughter could safely wait inside the Boarding House for you to arrive.
Junior School Students:
Junior School students who aren’t collected from the roundabout by 3.30 pm will be escorted to TheirCare, our after-school care provider which is located in Hamilton Hall.
We recommend that families register with TheirCare, so that if this happens, your daughter is registered in their system.
Dropping off or collecting students from Meta Street or College Street is strictly prohibited.
Cameras monitor these areas, and unsafe practices will be addressed directly with parents.
We support any action police take against drivers disobeying these rules to ensure the safety of our students and the local community.
Not following these rules, will be considered a breach of our ‘Parent Charter’ and Code of Conduct and The Principal will speak directly with parents.
We warmly welcome parents to engage with the life of the College and participate in events and activities.
However, to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the school, we kindly ask parents to observe the following guidelines when visiting the school.
The main entry point to the College is Meta Street. Our Main Reception is located there.
Evandale parents may go directly to Evandale Reception to check in.
We have a responsibility to keep our College community safe and be aware of who is on campus in case of a critical incident.
Our school is a busy place. We appreciate that families attend swimming, gym and other activities throughout the day and sport on eekends on campus. These activities are all permitted outside of 8.00 am to 4.00 pm and do not require you to check in at Reception. However, if you are on campus, you may be approached by a member of staff and asked to identify yourself.
You may be directed to return to Main Reception or Evandale Reception to sign in or wait for the appropriate staff member. I thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Parents and guests visiting campus between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm must sign in for safety and emergency purposes or in the event of a critical incident.
An entry pass is required to access the grounds.
Evandale parents may go directly to Evandale and check-in at Evandale Reception.
The College cannot be used as a thoroughfare by parents or members of the community.
Parents are respectfully asked not to enter or remain on the school grounds before the start of the school day unless attending a scheduled event or appointment.
Drop-off areas are available, and staff are on duty to assist students from 8.00 am.
Parents collecting their daughters at the end of the day are encouraged to wait in designated pick-up areas, such as the undercover space at the Meta Street gates for Years 3 to 12 or Evandale’s Robinson Street gate.
Please do not wait near classrooms or locker areas.
