Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

1. Talk to your children about the values and standards they should follow on the use of the device and the Internet, just as you would do with the use of all media.

2. Remind your children that since the device is District-owned technology, any damage or misuse of it is the financial responsibility of the family, and as such, great care should be taken to treat it respectfully.

3. Go over the Parent/Student device User Agreement with your children and make sure they understands their responsibilities and expectations.

4. Establish a healthy balance between technology and other daily activities. Don’t allow the technology to dictate family time, and limit the use of devices to public places and waking hours.

Student Responsibilities

1. Care and maintain the device and its accessories.

2. Obey general school and District rules concerning behavior and communication.

3. Help Platteville School District protect its property and network by reporting any security breaches.

4. Monitor own online accounts.

5. Report any emails/messages that are a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.

6. Return the device and charger to the district at the end of the school year (or at the time of withdrawal).
