Frequently Asked Questions

What does the term 1 to 1 mean?

All full-time students grades 1-12 will be issued a device that they have access to at all times.

Why do students need 1 to 1 devices?

21st-century learning has changed to the extent that students need access throughout the school day and beyond. Valuable learning time is often lost when taking whole groups to and from the computer lab. Many technology tasks are intermittent and are best integrated into other instructional activities in the teacher’s own classroom environment.

Does my student have a choice of participating in the 1 to 1 program?

No. All full-time students in 1-12 grades will participate. All teachers will include the essential elements of technology into their curriculum. Some classes will involve heavier device use than others.

My student already has a device. Can she/he use that instead of the school-issued device?

No. We want to ensure that all students have the required applications and safeguards, and having school-managed devices are the best way to do that.

What if we do not fill out the required device paperwork? When will my child receive his/her device?

If you do not sign the necessary paperwork, your child will be required to check their device in and out each day at school, and they will not be able to take it home. Parental signatures are required prior to taking their device home.

What are the benefits of device use outside of school?

Devices allow students to store calendars, notes, handouts, books, as well as to access academic applications. It allows students to manage and locate assignments 24/7.

How will internet traffic be filtered?

Internet services will be filtered through CIPAFilter, which is the current filtering program the school district uses. Devices will be filtered through CIPAFilter as well when outside the school district, but we encourage parents to still monitor Internet usage.
