We believe solar car has something for everyone, and we believe everyone can contribute.
Q: What did you discover about your own abilities while working on solar car?
A: Looking back and seeing in hindsight what I could have done better made me realize just how much I had learned over the season and motivated me to keep improving my engineering skills.
Q: Did solar car change what you want to study in collge? How?
A: "When I joined solar car I wanted to do CS but after working on the hardware of the telemetry system I realized that I am more intrigued in the circuits themselves."
Q: What is one important lesson you learned from solar car?
A: "One lesson solar car has taught me is the importance of a plan. Whether its written down, 3D modeled, or drawn, a clear plan is absolutely necessary to save time, avoid confusion, and to be productive."
Q: What is one important lesson you learned from solar car?
A: "There are always simple solutions, but the process to getting the solution requires extreme attention to detail."
Q: How has solar car shifted your perspective on engineering?
A: "It taught me that engineering is a team effort rather than an individual one, each field and each person needs to work together by combining their individual knowledge to create something amazing."
Q: What did you discover about your own abilities while working on solar car?
A: "Tenacity and the positive mindset which makes me believe in myself that I can learn and understand even if I don't know what is going on at first"
Q: What is one important lesson you learned from solar car?
A: "Personally, the most important lesson I learned is to view problems from multiple angles. Solving engineering challenges requires curiosity, drawing diagrams, consulting mentors, and actively asking questions for differing perspectives. To find solutions, it is crucial to go beyond the first obvious answer and explore deeper."
Q: Why do you participate in solar car?
A: "I wanted to participate in an activity that allowed me to both develop some engineering skills, meet new people, and help preserve the planet for future generations."
Q: Can you describe a moment during solar car when you felt especially proud of yourself or your team?
A: One moment I felt truly proud of our team was when we were mocking the motor’s electrical system. At first, nothing went as planned and we spent a long time troubleshooting every issue. When it finally started working, it was such a satisfying moment. All the effort, patience, and teamwork came together perfectly, and I felt a sense of accomplishment knowing our persistence had paid off.
Q: Why do you participate in solar car?
A: I wanted to be a part of solar car to pursue my interests in engineering, while working with others and learning about environmental sustainability.
