Band staff and/or band parent volunteers/boosters are permitted to provide participating individuals (students, volunteers, staff) with food/drink. Pop up tents, tables, coolers, etc. are permitted in the Band Truck/Trailer area as long as your bands setup does not encroach on nearby participating bands. Please be sure to anchor pop-up tents in the case of excessive wind, and please also encourage your students, staff and volunteers to maintain an appropriate level of cleanliness. If trash receptacles are not provided or are not close by, please bag and stack your refuse as neatly as possible for quick and easy removal.
For some bands, PEMI is an all day event. We do welcome our guests to make themselves comfortable, but we do ask that courtesy and restraint is used to allow other guests, students and all bands to be able to participate in the Invitational without distraction.
General Guidelines
Alcohol
Alcohol is not permitted on Plano I.S.D. property per Plano I.S.D. Board Policy (GKA — Community Relations: Conduct on School Premises) and Texas Education Code (TEC) 38.007(a). Individuals violating this policy may be required to leave Plano I.S.D. property and may be charged with a misdemeanor.
Pop up Tents
Are only allowed in the band truck/trailer area. Pop up tents are not allowed in the general spectator parking or the bus parking areas. If you are planning on using pop up tents, please ensure that they are anchored appropriately in the event that inclement weather/strong winds occur.
Electronics
Band staff and parent volunteers may use appropriate electronics (PA systems, video monitors/TVs, projection systems) as needed for use in the course of PEMI as long as this communication does not negatively impact the preparation or performance of other participating groups, PEMI volunteers or PEMI spectators.
Examples of appropriate use: communicating to the band membership, reviewing show video.
All other use of electronics should be in a manner in which other participating bands, students, staff and volunteers are not negatively impacted. Volume of any other electronic devices (music, video streaming/broadcasts) should be kept to a minimum.
Trash
Trash receptacles or dumpster access may or may not be provided. We ask that participating bands and volunteers do their best to manage the areas provided to them for the Invitational appropriately. If you are unable to remove trash by any other means, we ask that you bag/stack it in the smallest space possible so that PEMI volunteers can dispose of it quickly and easily.
