A 1995 graduate of Massillon Washington High School, 2000 graduate of Akron University, 2005 graduate of Kent State (Master’s).
While attending Massillon as a student he ran track for four years and cross-country for three years. He was named team captain of both sports during his senior year.
He is currently coaching his twenty-fifth season of GlenOak Boy's Cross Country (twenty-first year as Head Coach). He helped lead the 2002, 2003, 2009, 2021, 2022 and 2024 teams to the State Championship Meet (finishing a career best sixth in 2009). He is currently in his twenty-fifth season as a coach in the GlenOak track program (twenty-fourth season as a varsity coach, 1st as Head Coach), where he specializes in boy's distance. During his coaching tenure at GlenOak he has coached twenty All-Ohioans and five All-Americans; he was named Stark County Coach of the Year after the 2009 Cross Country season. He is currently a USATF level One certified coach.
He is married to Robin (a Kindergarten teacher in Plain Local) and he has three children, daughter Sophia and sons Gavin and Nolan. He currently teaches eleventh-grade American Government at GlenOak High School
