2026 Teacher of the Year Nominee
Nomination from Adam Ferguson (2020 Teacher of the Year)
"I have now had the pleasure of working next door to Christian Arvin for a few years and I have witnessed how incredible he is in the classroom and in the sports he coaches and activities he sponsors. As an Economics teacher he has brought the topic to life for his students with engaging lessons that I have seen and heard students talking about outside of his classroom. He has grown the AP program and is even trying to figure out how to bring Dual Credit Economics to PHS. I am not sure of the exact statistics but I believe all but one student in his tenure at PHS has passed the AP exam, a true testament to his abilities in the classroom. Outside of the classroom he also has seen tremendous success in Cross Country and he has been an incredible addition as a fellow sponsor of Riley Dance Marathon. He goes out of his way to help any and all students, to support all programs in the Plainfield School Corporation, and truly brings joy to learning. I feel as if Christian would be an excellent teacher of the year for Plainfield Schools. "
While this is obviously a "silly" award, I think it illustrates my relationship building skills with students. This award was a superlative that was done by student vote. One of my core beliefs is that making lasting relationships and creating impactful moments with students far outweighs the lessons learned or the test scores. I am proud that students know me beyond "the guy that teaches economics."

2027 Teacher of the Year?
Only time will tell!
Nomination from Stacey Peters:
"Christian, a PCSC grad from 2010, has been here at PHS for several years and has done a great job of not only fulfilling his role, but then some! To begin, in the classroom, I hear buzz among the students that is positive about him. Outside of the classroom, this positiveness continues, whether it's in athletics as he coaches those students who like to run really long and really fast, or in the extra-curricular as he works with students who like to do what they can to reach out and help others.
