STEAM Specialist - Schwarting Elementary School
Samantha McHugh is the STEAM Specialist at Charles E. Schwarting Elementary School. She received her BA in Psychology and her MA in General Education and Special Education. This is her fourth year teaching and second year teaching STEAM. When not in the STEAM Studio, she enjoys crafting, being outside, and spending time with her family.
STEAM Specialist - Eastplain
Dr. Eileen Santoro is the STEAM Specialist at Eastplain Elementary School, and also teaches Pre-K STEAM at Eastplain and Schwarting Elementary School. She is certified in childhood, early childhood, special education, gifted and talented, and library media. This is her seventeenth year teaching and fifth year teaching STEAM. When not teaching STEAM, she enjoys spending time with her family including her two daughters, Shannon & Summer, and dog, Bandit.
STEAM Specialist - John H. West
Alexa Stola is the STEAM specialist at John H. West Elementary School. She received her BA as well as her MA in Psychology and Special Education at Marist College. It is her fourth year teaching STEAM. She enjoys being outside, gardening, going to the beach, and most of all teaching STEAM!
District-Wide STEAM Teaching Assistant
Deborah Fallon is the STEAM Teaching Assistant in all three elementary schools. She was one of the co-founders of the STEAM program. Before STEAM, Deborah taught computer skills to elementary students. She is certified in elementary, educational technology, secondary mathematics and school counseling. She is very involved in the district, including being the Director of the Teacher Center. When she is not at Plainedge, she enjoys going for walks and spending time with her friends and family.
High School CTE Teacher/STEAM Specialist
Kevin White is a district-wide CTE teacher and STEAM specialist in Plainedge School District. Following a career in IT, he became CTE & Computer Science certified and is currently completing the Educational Leadership Certification at Stony Brook University. When not in the classroom he enjoys spending time with family, friends, hiking, playing beach volleyball, and walking his dog Sully!

High School Astronomy Teacher/STEAM Specialist
Perry Fuchs is a high school science teacher and STEAM specialist who has been educating students in Plainedge since the fall of 2000. A NYS certified Biology and Earth Science teacher, Mr. Fuchs joined the STEAM team as Professor Planet in 2018 in order to provide enhanced science enrichment lessons to elementary school students with the use of our state-of-the-art telescope and inflatable planetarium. In addition to working with students at all levels, Mr. Fuchs is also the long time President of the Plainedge Federation of Teachers. In his free time, he enjoys bike riding, visiting science museums, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
