How do you go into business for yourself? What do you need to consider with regard to financing, location, partners, type of business, etc...?

Course Competencies
Unit 1 - What is an Entrepreneur
-Understand what an entrepreneur is, what skills they posses and how they affect the economy
-Understand the different types of business organizations and adv. and disadvantage to each
-Construct a business plan for a business you many want to start one day. This is an ongoing project through the term.
Unit 2 - Market Research
-Be able to know and conduct market research
-Decipher secondary and primary data
Unit 3 - Location, Competition, Goods
-Decide on effective business locations and why
-Understand direct vs. indirect competition
-Goods vs. services and what they mean to a business
Unit 4 - Marketing Mix and Pricing
-Identify components of marketing mix and explain how they work together
-Make effective decisions about price using pricing strategies and math
Unit 5 - Purchasing and Risk
-Identify the different types of business risk and how to mortgage them
-Understand purchasing goods for a business and how to maintain effective and accurate inventory
Unit 6 - Promotional Mix
-Understand how to effective market your products through sales promotion and advertising
-Create both visual and digital forms of advertisements.
Unit 7 - Personnel
-Effectively make hiring/firing decisions for a business
-Understand what makes effective leaders in business
