Stop Motion is an animation of physical objects. It involves taking a series of pictures while moving and manipulating objects within the frame. The animation technique can be used for entertainment, to tell stories, to promote products and services, and more. Stop Motion animation can be used in any classroom as a fun and engaging way for students to show their understanding. It promotes collaboration and problem solving in displaying students’ learning.
A Brief History
Stop motion animation dates back to the late 1800s. This quickly evolved into the creation of Claymation - stop motion using clay figures. Throughout the 1900s, Claymation was used in shows and film, including the first Wallace and Gromit short film. This kind of animation continued into the 2000s, with creations such as Coraline.
