Welcome to the Pitman Enrichment Program (P.E.P.)

Mission Statement: The goal of our program is to identify, challenge, and reward gifted students. These ends will be achieved by establishing rigorous instructional goals, fostering the spirit of collaboration, and encouraging healthy competition.

Program Overview - Model Congress Simulation

As participants in the program, students will: (1) explore the mission, structure and function of the United States Congress; (2) learn how to write, amend and defend a policy resolution; (3) apply their research and critical thinking skills to specific global issues; (4) understand the role of diplomacy and deliberation in international affairs; and (5) develop skills in conflict resolution, problem solving and cross-cultural communication.

Highlights 2019-20

PEP Students participated in the UN Program at the University of Pennsylvania Museum and the Temple University Fox School of Business. Throughout this process, students wrote/ amended resolutions, chaired committees, and proposed solutions to global issues.

Highlights 2018-19

PEP Students participated in the Model Congress Program at the Statehouse Annex in Trenton. Throughout this process, students wrote/ amended bills, chaired committees, and passed legislation. NO ADULT INTERFERENCE!! Our group excelled throughout this process and won awards for:

Bill Writing- Aidan James
Excellence in Debating- Aidan James, Beatriz Horner, Grace Eller
Congressional Passage- Aidan James

Highlights 2017-18

PEP students wrote and deliberated on Mock Trial Cases during the annual "Law and Adventure" Competition, developed Model UN resolutions, and hosted a round table discussion with State Senator Fred Madden. What a year!!!
